Weekly Update 10/31/08

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!   It’s a gorgeous day for the little ghosts and goblins to be out and about tonight. Afterwards, I’m going to build a little fire in the fire circle on my back patio. You are welcome to come by if you feel like its just to beautiful an evening to go indoors.

9:30 am Service “Day of the Dead”
Please bring a photo &/or a memento
to decorate the altar, as we honor our loved ones who are no longer with us. We will also have candles for you to light. Join us for this service for all ages, where we pause, reflect and share some of the stories of people that have shaped our lives. Family Choir will be singing, and the band will play. Enjoy the silliness of Halloween on Friday and Saturday, and then come join us for the flipside of the holiday on Sunday morning.

“Fall From Grace” takes the viewer inside the surreal world of Rev. Fred Phelps and his followers, with rare interviews and footage of several pickets and church services. The film focuses on a group that represents a variety of contemporary American issues, including intolerance of homosexuality, the right to freedom of speech, separation of church and state, and the War in Iraq.

Please note: This afternoon I won’t be at Cup of Joe because it is the annual Trick or Treat on the Parkade—what a wild time, with so many little kids all dressed up!

I haven’t heard any new pastoral news to update you with. Several people are still recuperating, including Bea Tate and Margie Miller. Several elders remain in fragile health, including Mildred Pierce, Glenyce Butschy and Dottie Forsberg. Please keep them all in your thoughts and prayers.

See you in church!
~Eva
